Hailed as the Johnny Appleseed of documentary film and known as "the father of public access," George C. Stoney (1916-2012) began his filmmaking career in 1946 after working in journalism for a time. Throughout his career, which spanned more than 60 years, he wrote, produced, and directed more than 200 films. Many are documentaries that illuminate social problems. His film All My Babies (1952) was chosen for the National Registry in 2006. This poignant documentary portrays the late George Stoney as a filmmaker, teacher of film, and media activist. We see clips from 17 films, interviews with collaborators who worked with the subject in front of and behind the camera, and intimate recordings with the subject himself.
